It’s been awhile since I last wrote a blog update but I know many of you have been keeping an eye on me on Facebook…and I thank you for that! As many of you know I had some equipment failure which crippled my photographic output somewhat. I got a TON of support from everyone and several friends family and friends sent me words of encouragement AS WELL AS some fun new cameras to play with as well. And while I couldn’t use the new tools for my business per say, I got to take a break and explore some new facets of photography.
Aunt Cindy, Uncle Jim, and Cousin Sheryl: Thank you so much for sending me the dimage! I’ve enjoyed using it for landscape pictures, something I never really got into prior and playing with all the different lens attachments! We took it to our favorite spot on the beach =]
PamBam: Thank you for sending me the 1977 Minolta camera. Talk about vintage! I had never really worked with film and now am thinking this was long over due. I enjoyed creating the river series with this camera and playing with different film…it was great for portraits!

Aunt Michelle: Thank you for renting the equipment during my vacation in Houston! You gave me the opportunity to play with one of the BEST lenses currently out there, one with a focal range I’m not really used to, and I got to get some pics of the people I love and never get to see. I now have some awesome pictures from home =]
You guys have made these last few months so amazing because without a camera, I’d probably be bouncing off the walls by now! And not only have I put the new cameras to use but I’ve also been doing a lot of photo retouching and graphic design work in order to pay for some new equipment and get me back into business.
Speaking of which…in two weeks I will be back in business! YESSS!!!!! Just in time for Holiday family portraits. So if you’re looking, I am back =]
Thanks again to EVERYONE who’s supported me through all this BS. And though my new gear is in, I still look forward to exploring new areas of photography every day <3
First off, THANK YOU to EVERYONE for all your kind words and encouragement. It’s helped a lot and actually got me really excited about kicking off a new venture of photography.
SO it’s been a week and I just got my first roll from my Fisheye lomo cam developed and they are awesome!
There are more on my facebook page, check them out =] We also went to the beach today with 4 rolls of new film. I used two and we stayed for sunset so I can’t wait to get them developed too! Yay! Things are looking bright indeed.
So yesterday was a wonderful day! Creative energy was bubblin’ from 9:30AM until I, exhaustedly, passed out early in the evening. My husband drove my artsy friend, Neebin, and I to the first meet for Portland’s chapter of Creative Connections. It’s a bunch of creative ladies like us who meet monthly for inspiration =] Lot’s of talented ladies. And despite the rain, everyone was full of laughter and enthusiasm (and LOTS of sugar!) I took just a few snapshots, mostly of cupcakes… it was dismal out so low light/shutterspeed w/o a secondary lightsource, so a tad on the blurry side.
I think you get the vibe of it all =] Thank you so much, Margaret (Margaret Jacobsen Photography) for putting this on, Krystle (Sugar Krystle’s) for the delicious cupcakes, and it was so nice meeting everyone who made it =]
Afterwards, Neebin and I began plotting something we think will be AMAZING…don’t wanna leak anything right now but expect something juicy potentially soon!
Here is my first set of headshots using “proper technique”, as so wonderfully demonstrated with the lovely Kaylie =] This is my second time shooting Kaylie (we did Sugar Skulls body-painting a few months back) She did her make-up and we played around with some feathers (and failed miserably at applying fake eyelashes haha) and voila!
