So, last night my husband and I were lucky enough to get to see Floater at the historic Whiteside Theatre in Downtown Corvallis. First of all, Floater is amazing. They’ve been around forever (’93) and every single album is a masterpiece. They are Oregonians, so if you are reading this and have no idea who they are you probably aren’t from around here. Although you may, since they are still huge and have been up for Grammys in the past. Still, they choose to play small, local venues and and keep their ticket prices low so people don’t have to pay an arm and a leg to see a show. They are very community and fan conscious =] They even had a local band, Ambush Party, open up for them (they were pretty awesome too, will add pics on my Facebook soon) The event was in benefit of restoring the theatre…it was a beautiful, intimate setting…I believe ticket, merch, and drink sales all went toward Whiteside Theatres restoration project. Check out their website if you’d like to contribute and see some great shows at the same time =]
Pictures! Here are a few. We were right up front and I didn’t have my camera out long because all the moshers were getting crazy so I had to put it away. But Robert Wynia was right there! And it was a pretty sweet show, sans the morons behind us. I couldn’t get any of the drummer because from my angle he was totally concealed by his set =[

After the show Rob gave us each a hug =*] He was sweaty but I totally didn’t even care.

I had wanted to go to the beach the night before and practice my first attempt at photographing the milky way…however, the skies were too cloudy. I moped around a bit because I’m so impatient and had really been looking forward to a night at the beach. Around 3AM I had an amazing idea…those clouds obstructing my stellar view would look beautiful at sunrise! On impulse, I woke my poor husband up, we hastily packed our gear and were out the door by 3:30! Have I ever mentioned how amazingly supportive he is? =]
We arrived at Nye Beach just before 5AM, which was perfect! Because the coast faces westward, the sun rises behind us and illuminates the clouds over the Pacific slowly and doesn’t wash out all the color. Another great thing…we were lucky enough to get the fog rolling in. Really gorgeous effect. It was hard for me to only pick a few…I came home with over 300 shots. Below are only 40 or so of our favorites, they’re not in any particular order. The only editing was some slight level balancing…those colors are the real thing!
[Gallery not found]As you can see, our dog LOVES the beach. And WE loved that we were the only ones on the beach for hours. One of the most relaxing days in my entire life. What a morning =] I hope you enjoyed.
I’m considering making prints available depending on how well received they are…if you had to pick 1 image, what do you think would be the best print with the most WOW factor?
